*Regarding Sex: What would you tell singles who are struggling?

The church is divided about so many issues--particularly SEX (homosexuality, masturbation, dating, pre-marital sex, dating, sexual foreplay...to name a few topics).

*Regarding Sex: What would you tell singles who are struggling and trying to make it?

I went to a conference this weekend and one of the panelist put it that way; God will not ask you to give up anything without giving you something in return, and what God will give you is far greater than what you are asked to give up.

Paul stated in 1 Corinthians 6 v 13 "Food for the stomach and the stomach for food"—but God will destroy them both. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.

Thanks for the words of encouragement Shiller.

I'm reminded of a phrase from on of Donny Hathaway's songs: "Lord help me..."

Struggling, I guess this means that a person really want to live Godly, and not just talking. Do we want to serve Christ of the Bible, or the Christ of our making? Some of us just want people think we want to do the right thing, but all we really want is someone to sympathize with us as we justify our wrongs. Some of us want to look good to others, while we go on escapes of our making and thinking. Then there are those of us that will say that sex it the greatest temptations. But then the Bible says; “14 but each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire…”
The Bible is clear, “Sex Sins are sins against the body, the temple of God.” Most of our ideas relating to sex and sexuality are shame based and we don't make God a part of it. The one thing we know for sure is its stated purpose is to multiply and fill the earth. This ordinance of God is a source of pleasure, the ultimate natural pleasure. So what it really boils down to is who we want to serve hedonism or God of the Bible.
I sincerely believe that the Bible gives the answer clear, but most of us including me, have our own desires, witch make us give other interpretations to the "Word", to justify our behaviors and thinking. I am presently practicing abstinence, not because I am all of that. Primary the last relationship I was in, devastated me and force me to change my perception. So I protect my eye gate, ear gate, etc. I have found that my desires have lessened. However it is unnatural for man not to have a mate. “It is not good for man to be alone.”
So the real response to the questioned posed, “,"But seek ye first the kingdom of God,and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." ...

Kahill, thanks for your thought provoking words of encouragement--I agree

Your message on your profile caught my attention:

"God can not allow sin to go unpunished, that's why he sent his son. Thank you Father for your love."

Well said Kahlil, and so we must press on, as through a narrow gate.

But thank God for His grace and mercy that keeps us as often as we fall short in our efforts to please Him--the One who bleed, suffered and died for us for all of our sins--Jesus.

By the way the church is divided, but the Bible is not.

Either the Bible is true or it is a lie; if it is true then the divided church is a lie; if it is a lie, then God is a lie.

I too thank God for him giving me more than I deserve (Grace); and for Him not giving me what I deserve (Mercy). I know that I am blessed.-Selah!

God Bless You.
Kahlil

Kahlil, I agree absolutely, “the church is divided, but the Bible is not”.

I marvel at the grace and mercy He has showed me having once been one of Jehovah’s Witness for over 10 years—zealous and dogmatic!

Oh yeah, I got a testimony!

Praise the Lord Brother Jonathan!
I am very interested in learning a little about Jehovah's Witness doctrine. Could you tell me a little about their teaching on:

1. Salvation
2.Jesus- who He is.
3. The deity of Christ.
4. The indwelling and manifestation of the Holy Ghost.

Thank you.

Hello Brother Black. Thanks for the reply.

Regarding your interest in learning a little about Jehovah's Witness doctrine, here are some broad strokes:

1. Salvation –
Jehovah Witnesses teach that salvation is attained largely based on works-- whether with a view to everlasting life on earth to live in a Eden-like paradise or in heaven.

2. Jesus- who He is –
Jehovah Witnesses teach that Jesus is a created being, an archangel and the first of God’s creation who God used to create all other things.

3. The deity of Christ -
Jehovah Witnesses teach that Jesus is not God, that He is not “God the Son”, the second person of the Holy Trinity and not eternal.

4. The indwelling and manifestation of the Holy Ghost –
Jehovah Witnesses teach that the Holy Ghost is an impersonal force (like gravity or magnetism) and not a person. However, God uses His Holy Spirit to accomplish His will.

P.S. – We share some favorites and common thoughts:

Regarding Shirley Caesar:
(My mom used to sing with Shirley for a brief period when they were known as “Shirley Caesar and the Caravans.” – I love Shirley Caesar)

Regarding your Ministry Goal: A base of fellowship on every continent on the globe.
(Similarly, I’d like to be used by God to help spread the gospel message worldwide: “To increase the knowledge, praise and worship of Jesus in all the earth.”)

Regarding your greatest fear: Running out of time, passing on with my work undone!
(I feel the same way, although I know all things are in God’s hand, He can not fail and that He who began a good work in us is faithful to complete it.)

I look forward to hearing from you and supporting your ministry.

Thank you, Brother Jonathan, for taking an interest in me and my concerns, and I tell you, it doesn't take volumes to encourage me. Your last sentence did it for me. All I need is God's grace and a little support, and I can do this thing! As for Shirley, all she has to do is sing "You're next in line" and I'm good for the whole day! Peace!
