What's up CHS Artists?
I'm a composer/musician and am wondering what is your opinion on using computer generated music for recording, particularly midi. Do you prefer live musicians or music by track? I trying to see what is a popular opinion on the subject. I do understand that quality is everything, but there are subtle differences between the human feel, and the computer accuracy, and was wondering which one is best...or is just up to the performer?

As shown by music artists like Herbie Hancock and Miles Davis, the use of electronics greatly expanded their creative options. The medium used by the artist is still just an extension of the artist himself/herself, and so I believe it should be left up to the artist himself/herself to decide what method or mode to usein conveying what they are trying to express. From the listening standpoint, I prefer live acoustic instruments. Forgive me for answering a question with a question, but how do you think computer/electronics affects gospel music? There are some who think that the anointing is diluted or absent in today's gospel music because of current styles being used. What do you think?

I have pondered this issue very deeply. From a technical/physical standpoint, I think it has helped a lot of people do something they are not necessarily skilled enough to do otherwise. And since they can't pay for a live musician on a regular basis, they can basically buy a musician-in-a-box, program the songs they want to create and the technology does the rest. It can be good for expanding creativity, and providing more avenues for singers to travel and perform without live musicians. It can be good particularly for recording in the studio, but it can be restrictive for live performances
As far as diluting the anointing? I think the jury is still out. Does the anointing flow because of the style of music? Or does the anointing flow because of a yeilded vessel?

You are right on it, Brother Clifford! We look for the anointing as something coming in from an external God, when it is something we release ourselves as yielded vessels unto God, ministering unto God. God knows the motive and motivation of what we do, and if its right, He stamps it as worship, and the result is people being blessed, uplifted, healed, delivered, and set free!
