The anticipation of today's arrival had me full of anxiety. As I awoke this morning to prepare my 5 year old son for a dental appointment that I knew could possibly be hard for him, I silently prayed. I didn't want him to detect any fear from me so I was all smiles and goofy with him as usual, singing in the car. He only knew that the dentist that he liked would fix his tooth so that it would no longer cause him pain. As we sat in the little room in the children's dental office, my heart began to race. After the xrays were taken he started clinging to my leg. I could feel his uneasiness begin to sit in. I started out sitting on the end of the patient's chair where he sat. As the dentist lifted the chair into the air and laid him back, I rubbed his leg to let him know that I was right there for him. First they applied the little cap over his nose that would administer the laughing gas. Silently praying in my head I watched as they next applied the topical numbing ointment. I knew what was next - the needle. Feeling a little woozie, I sat in the corner. Before I realized it, they had stuck him and he didn't even move or protest in any way. My fists were clenched and I think I stopped breathing for a few moments. Before long they were drilling and I knew I could relax because he'd feel nothing again until the anesthesia wore off. My baby was a little man today and I know that I have God to thank for it all. Sometimes we worry for no reason at all. Each obstacle that the Lord successfully brings me thru (whether real or created in my own head) brings me closer to trusting Him in all areas of my life. Thank you Lord for hearing and answering my prayer favorably. 2 Timothy 1:7 For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
